The Delaware Charity Challenge is a unique fundraising and athletic competition designed to give organizations, families, and individuals a fun way to raise money and awareness for their favorite causes. Teams that enter may designate any charity they want as a beneficiary of funds they raise as a team. Part of the proceeds from the race registrations and the race sponsorships will go into a prize pool that will be distributed among the charities that raise the most money and to the charities of the teams that win the individual race events on the day of the Delaware Charity Challenge.

First Annual Delaware Charity Challenge Raises Over $30,000 For Area Charities

Charles Vincent

Wilmington, DE, May 6, 2015 – Innovincent, a Wilmington, DE based consulting company that specializes in helping nonprofits and small businesses with strategic planning, marketing, and fundraising, is pleased to announce that over $30,000 was raised at the First Annual Delaware Charity Challenge fundraising contest and spring athletic games. The event took place on May 2, 2015 at Lums Pond State Park in Bear, Delaware. Over 35 teams participated, representing 30 different charities.

The Delaware Charity Challenge is a centralized fundraising and athletic competition designed to give participating charities and teams the ability to access all the benefits of participating in a fundraising event, such as a 5K, without most of the overhead costs and logistical nightmares commonly associated with putting such events together internally.

This year's winning charity and recipient of the additional $300 first prize was Meals On Wheels Delaware. They raised $5,995 between its official team and a team from Monroe Energy which designated them as its nonprofit beneficiary.  Team Veritext Legal Solutions finished second, raising $5,550 for its nonprofit beneficiary, Ministry of Caring, earning that charity an additional$200 prize. Team End Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy raised the third highest amount of $4,716 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), earning the $100 prize for MDA. Team Cure Sanfilippo, raising money for Team Sanfilippo Foundation, raised $4,550.

Team Veritext, Team End Duchenne, and Team Cure Sanfilippo were the top three fundraising teams of the 26 teams competing in the Race to Raise. In the official team category, Team Meals On Wheels Delaware and Team Next Gen North (raising money for the Next Generation of the Delaware Community Foundation (North) Fund) won advertising packages from the Wilmington Blue Rocks for having raised the most money of any official nonprofit team.

Donors can continue to donate to any of the team fundraising pages and to their selected charities (on crowdrise.com/challengeDE) until May 31, 2015.

"I was really excited to see how competitive the fundraising got between all of the teams as the Race to Raise got closer and closer to the end," says Charlie Vincent, founder of Innovincent LLC, the company behind the Delaware Charity Challenge. "The fact that the Delaware Charity Challenge spring events raised more than $30,000 in its first year tells me that this event will only grow bigger as more and more teams and nonprofits get involved."
