The Delaware Charity Challenge is a unique fundraising and athletic competition designed to give organizations, families, and individuals a fun way to raise money and awareness for their favorite causes. Teams that enter may designate any charity they want as a beneficiary of funds they raise as a team. Part of the proceeds from the race registrations and the race sponsorships will go into a prize pool that will be distributed among the charities that raise the most money and to the charities of the teams that win the individual race events on the day of the Delaware Charity Challenge.

Delaware Charity Challenge April 19 Update

Charles Vincent

The 2nd Annual 5K and Adventure Challenge Relay is next Saturday, April 30!

Only 11 days before the 2nd Annual Delaware Charity Challenge Race to First 5K and Adventure Challenge Relay, which will start on Saturday, April 30 at 9 a.m. at Brandywine Creek State Park (41 Adams Dam Road in Wilmington). As of this morning, the teams have raised nearly $15,000 for different nonprofits as part of the Race to Raise fundraising challenge!

We have featured all of the teams over the past week on our Facebook and Twitter pages and hope this has helped raise awareness (and money) for your causes. Feel free to like and share those posts to drive people to your fundraising pages and make a donation. You can see the list of all of the different charities the teams have selected here on the Delaware Charity Challenge website our our Crowdrise page.

If you are looking to run or walk in the race on April 30 for a specific team, you will need to pre-register by next Tuesday, April 26. While we will take registrations after that, we will be assigning those runners to the Open 5K division and their scores cannot be counted toward any specific team's total in the competitive races. You can register for the 5K here and for the Adventure Challenge Relay here.

We will be making additional announcements over the next few days, so please follow our Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram feeds for the latest info.

The Race to Raise will continue until April 29 at 11:59 p.m., the day before the race. You can see the status of all teams or donate to any of them by clicking on the blue donate button on their team pages here. Team pages will remain active until the end of May for anyone who still wishes to donate after the Spring Race to Raise ends.

Fundraising Tip

With only two weeks in the fundraising competition to go, your best bet at this point is to regularly post and email your team fundraising link and encourage people to donate and why you are supporting that organization. By posting your team specific URL from Crowdrise (or the general URL: www.crowdrise.com/challengeDE) as a social media status update on Facebook, LinkedIn, or Twitter, your friends and followers just need to click to donate.

Feature: Blue Rocks Grand Prize

Our top fundraising teams are vying to win three grand prizes in addition to the cash prizes awarded from the prize pool, from the Wilmington Blue RocksWJBR, and DETV. We will feature each of these prizes over the next three weeks. This week we feature the Wilmington Blue Rocks, one of our prize sponsors for the Delaware Charity Challenge Race to First 5K and Adventure Challenge Relay.

The official nonprofit teams are eligible for the Blue Rocks prize, which is a digital commercial prize featuring the team that raises the most money through their Delaware Charity Challenge team fundraising page by the end of the Spring Race to Raise competition. For the nonprofit team that raises the most money, the prize will include a half-page ad in the Blue Rocks' game day program for the remainder of the season and also two thirty-second radio spots during the Blue Rocks radio broadcasts for the remainder of the season. In addition, at a future game of the nonprofit's choice (subject to availability), the nonprofit will get the use of a luxury suite (including twenty tickets and ten parking passes) and will receive some promotion at that game as well, including an on-site marketing display. For the nonprofit team that raises the second-most money, the prize will include a quarter-page ad in the Blue Rocks' game program for the remainder of the season as well as ten field box tickets at a future game of the nonprofit's choice (subject to availability) and similar promotion at that game, including on on-site marketing display. These prizes will be in addition to the cash prizes that are also awarded as part of the Delaware Charity Challenge prize pool.

We hope this wonderful prize (and our other prizes) provide some additional incentive to help your teams raise as much money as they can for your favorite causes.

To help the teams raise money for the causes near and dear to their hearts, and also win one of these great prizes, click on the blue Donate button on their team page at www.crowdrise.com/challengede.
