The Delaware Charity Challenge is a unique fundraising and athletic competition designed to give organizations, families, and individuals a fun way to raise money and awareness for their favorite causes. Teams that enter may designate any charity they want as a beneficiary of funds they raise as a team. Part of the proceeds from the race registrations and the race sponsorships will go into a prize pool that will be distributed among the charities that raise the most money and to the charities of the teams that win the individual race events on the day of the Delaware Charity Challenge.

Delaware Charity Challenge - April 26, 2016 Update

Delaware Charity Challenge 5K and Adventure Challenge Relay Is This Weekend, Saturday, April 30!

Registration and check-in opens at 8 a.m. on Saturday, April 30. The 5K race will start at 9 a.m. sharp. Please account for ample travel time when planning your trip that morning so we can avoid any delays that morning.

Only 4 days remain before the Second Annual Delaware Charity Challenge "Race to First" 5K and Adventure Challenge Relay event on April 30! As of this morning, we've collectively raised more than $17,000 for the charities selected by the teams participating in the Race To Raise Fundraising Challenge. You can see all of the teams and their chosen charities can be found here on our Delaware Charity Challenge website or on our Delaware Charity Challenge Crowdrise page.

The team captains have been emailed about their runners and which race divisions they are categorized in along with some other information about Saturday.

We will continue to process registrations online and at the event itself. However, after today, anyone who registers will be categorized as running or walking in the open 5K/fun run/walk division. This really only matters for the competitive team scoring competitions. There are at least two teams in every division.

Race logistics and some more specifics about the day will be sent to the runners and captains separately, so please make sure you are checking your emails if you have not been getting anything from us or from your team captains. You can still register for the 5K here and for the Adventure Challenge Relay here.

We will continue making additional announcements over the next few days, so please follow our FacebookTwitter, or Instagram feeds for the latest info.

Virtual Leaderboard

With only about 84 hours left in the fundraising competition, Team Veritext remains in first place $6,100 raised for Ministry of Caring. Less than $400 separates the next four places, and many other teams are continuing to raise money for their favorite causes. In second place is Team Cure Sanfilippo Foundation with $2,230 raised for Team Sanfilippo Foundation. In third place is Team OperaDelaware with $2,000 raised. Close behind in fourth is Team Second Wind Fund ($1,855) and Team End Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy ($1,825).

The total raised so far between sixteen teams (representing 15 different charities) is $17,101 as of 11:00 a.m. this morning. With three days to go, the race is on!

The Race to Raise will continue until Friday, April 29 at 11:59 p.m., the day before the athletic competitions. You can see the status of all teams or donate to any of them by clicking on the blue donate button on their team pages here. Team pages will remain active until the end of May for anyone who still wishes to donate after the Spring Race to Raise ends.

Fundraising Tip

With the final week of the Race to Raise upon us, the best advice we can give this week is to use the deadline as way of reminding friends and family and social networks about things you may have previously asked them about. Because the Race to Raise Fundraising competition ends this week, you may want to email, post, and share your team fundraising page one last time and ask for donations one last time.

A simple post to Facebook, social media, or to your friends via email would be:

All: I am raising money for [INSERT CHARITY HERE] as part of the Delaware Charity Challenge that I am participating in. The deadline to donate to our team fundraising page and have the donation count toward the Race to Raise fundraising competition is Friday, April 29. Please consider donating to this great cause and all donations are tax deductible and go to the charity. You can donate to our team page here: [INSERT YOUR TEAM FUNDRAISING PAGE LINK FROM CROWDRISE].
