The Delaware Charity Challenge is a unique fundraising and athletic competition designed to give organizations, families, and individuals a fun way to raise money and awareness for their favorite causes. Teams that enter may designate any charity they want as a beneficiary of funds they raise as a team. Part of the proceeds from the race registrations and the race sponsorships will go into a prize pool that will be distributed among the charities that raise the most money and to the charities of the teams that win the individual race events on the day of the Delaware Charity Challenge.

The Delaware Charity Challenge is a unique fundraising and athletic competition designed to give organizations, families, and individuals a fun way to raise money and awareness for their favorite causes.

In the Spring Race to Raise fundraising competition (February 1 to April 29), Team Veritext Legal Solutions took home top honors this year for raising $6,400 for the Ministry of Caring, including a $300 bonus prize for raising the most money. Team OperaDelaware raised $4,975 and finished second, earning an additional $200 prize. Team Cure Sanfilippo Syndrome finished third, raising $3,070 for Team Sanfilippo Foundation, including a $100 prize.  Team Veritext also won the grand marketing prizes from WJBR and DETV for winning the Race to Raise, and Team OperaDelaware won the Silver WJBR prize for raising the second most money.

The official nonprofit team fundraising competition was won by Team OperaDelaware ($4,975), followed by Meals on Wheels Delaware ($3,235 between its official team and the Monroe Energy team that designated Meals on Wheels Delaware as its beneficiary). Both OperaDelaware and Meals on Wheels Delaware won advertising packages from the Wilmington Blue Rocks for having raised the most money of any official nonprofit team.

Donors can continue to donate to any of the team fundraising pages and to their selected charities (on crowdrise.com/challengeDE) until May 31, 2016.

"Our past three Delaware Charity Challenge competitions have helped individuals, families, and organizations join together to raise more than $71,000 for 46 different nonprofit organizations," says Charlie Vincent, president of Innovincent LLC, the company behind the Delaware Charity Challenge. "Watching the teams compete and celebrate their fundraising efforts was wonderful, and we look forward to the return of the indoor triathlon in January."
